What do you like about science?

Science enables us to understand any process in nature or technology. Despite its history, science is never absolute but strives to broaden already existing knowledge.

If you have not become a scientist, what would you be today?

I would probably have tried to become a bicycle messenger.

What is your favorite place at work? Outside work?

At work in the office or in the coffee corner, outside work on my road bike.

What is your role in the SUBLIME project?

Project lead for Fraunhofer IST

How do you think will the results of SUBLIME contribute to a more sustainable world? How will the world be different after SUBLIME?

SUBLIME contributes to manifest and extend the state-of-the-art for Solid State Batteries, aiming at the improvement of energy storage technologies. It will contribute to the improvement of battery technologies against the background of electromobility and sustainable energy solutions.

What research are you conducting at your institution and how is it applied in the SUBLIME project?

At Fraunhofer IST I am active in various projects on solid-state batteries and I mostly focus on the preparation and electrochemical characterization of ASSB components. This applies to SUBLIME as improved cathode and separator components are developed and tested in cooperation with the Institute for Particle Technology of TU Braunschweig.
